Cheapest method from Newark airport to Manhattan?

  • Chaitu posted: 16 Sep at 6:01 am

    Hi,

    There is a much better way.

    NJ transit (New Jersey’s train service) has trains from Newark Airport to 33rd St Penn station almost every 20 minutes. Very convenient and costs $7. It is much faster than the express bus as well.

    Btw, which part of Manhattan would you want to travel to every day?

    Here is the schedule between Newark Airport and Manhattan
    =&LineDesc=&LineLookup=&LineExt=&LineExt2=&STime=12%3A00+PM&RTime=1%3A00+PM&Oloc=Newark+Airport&OSID=37953+++&Dloc=New+York+Penn+Station&DSID=105+++++&back=sf_tr_schedules.shtml&ori=37953+++%3ANewark+Airport&des=105+++++%3ANew+York+Penn+Station&DOW=W&mm=7&dd=6&yyyy=2007&date=7%2F6%2F2007

    Should you require to enter the airport, you can use the same $4 ticket for the Newark Airport station to terminal monorail as well.

    I am from India but I lived in NJ for almost a year! Have fun, NYC is awsome!

    I agree, the NJ Transit trains that go from Newark Airport into Penn Station (that’s right under Madison Square Garden in the heart of Manhattan) are fast, convenient, and the best method of travel. Not sure of the cost… the $7 quoted by the other respondent seems low to me. But honestly, even if it is more expensive, NJ Transit trains to Penn Station will simplify your trip.

    well u have the option of taking the New jersey transit train into newark penn station and take the path train into manhattan the path train will cost u 1.50 and the train to newark penn station will cost u about 2.50

    so in total roundtrip 3,00 on path train and 5 on new jersey transit train in total for everything $8 for roundtrip
    but then u need to get a metro card in nyc to get around in the subway system consider that expense too
